Hello world, I’m back.
Since the shop launch last month, I’ve been beyond happy to see it finally turn into a reality. Even more to celebrate is the fact that we now have customers from the States and Singapore. How wonderful to know that my blog designs are being released into the world and being put to good use! But truth be told, the launch has also knocked the wind out of me and left me feeling burnt out and in need of some self-care.
So for a much-needed R&R, I decided on the spur of the moment to take a short trip to Japan. I had a golden opportunity to be hosted by an infectiously passionate and multi-talented man Jesus (yes that’s his real name!) who works for one of my longtime favorite design agency Anagrama, and his most adorable French bulldog Billy who faithfully followed us around. The encounter was brief but unforgettable. It has left me deeply motivated to become a better designer.
The last time I was in Japan was 7 years ago. Everything feels different and yet the places are the same. And then I realised the thing that has changed is me. How I’ve grown as a person especially since making the decision to become self-employed. I’ve made lots of stupid mistakes in my life which I’ve regretted but surely this is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
In my usual curious explorer style, I’ve wandered around the cities of Tokyo and Yokohama, feeling satisfied just to soak in their vibrant energy and artful elegance. I hope you enjoy my photos and remember… to stay inspired always.
